This is my rear window area   right side lower previously repaired (butcher)???   I would like to find a nice piece... was this a common problem area on these E bodies?   this was just starting to bubble after 8 years

Big Block timing chain cover makes a great patch panel for that area if you can find one to sacrifice.

I have purchased a new quarter before and cut out patches from the new panel when I didn't want to go to the extent of replacing the whole quarter.  But I needed several patches, top and bottom.

Added:  you might see if you can find someone with an old panel that isn't rusted up there.  Us car people tend to hang onto old parts.   :roflsmiley:

You might want to remove some more of the paint to see how big of a piece you need.  It looks like someone brazed it in.  Maybe look in from the trunk.  If it were the driver's side, you would have been in luck because i have it.

I will remove more on passenger side and I will check drivers side too.. no issue now but if there is brass there I want it gone.. I need to eliminate all potential issues after I do a repaint and protour this thing up.... thanks for the reply bro

Couldn't that be fabricated using cardboard as a template?

Not an easy piece to fabricate. The window channel is all rusted as well (I assumed you thought that but maybe not). Getting the bend right so your window trim will fit correctly will be next to impossible. I've lived it and that's why I suggested the BB timing chain cover. You can certainly try fabbing the piece, just be aware of what you will run into. just trying to help.
You might get by, making it in two pieces, if you just put enough material in the upper piece to just bend over the 90 by about 1/8 inch (It would have to be bent over a jig) then weld a vertical part to it.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if you found the whole 1/4 had been brazed on. It was a common method and I've done dozens of them- and none came off, whatsoever. The only reason you're seeing bubbling there is because the guy who brazed it didn't do it properly and completely. The factories used braze in their 1/4-roof seams. If it IS a patch, just make one out of 2 pieces and once you've got the inner and outer shaped, mig 'em together and on. If you haven't done that kind of thing before, cardboard is your friend. Good luck.
