Oil change?
« on: May 14, 2014 - 11:58:06 PM »
So last year I changed the oil in the stroker motor and put about 300 miles on it, do you think I should change the oil every year or wait until I get a few thousand?   :clueless:

Using 20-50 racing oil with extra zink for the flat tappets . .

I use racing oil too and change it every year, even if all I do is start it up every few weeks.  Of course I could just be excessive.   :clueless:

I only get about 500 miles a year on mine, some of it track time. I run Red Line synthetic 10/30 and change it every spring.

I don`t see any reason to change it once a year with 500 miles on it...  :dunno:  sound a bit effusive to me

I wouldn't change it after so little miles. It's been in the ground for thousands of years, I don't think it goes bad.

Actually oil never loses its lubricating properties. It never wears out . The reason we change it is because it becomes contaminated from moisture, blow by, etc. And it's important to remember that todays modern oils contain no zinc, so if your running flat tappets a zink additive or racing oil is a must.

Every year for me. I don't know if the engine gets condensation in it or not over the winter, but I do it anyway.
