Where and what brand should i pick up a 75 or 100 amp alternator?

I've been looking at Tuff Stuff alternators from Summit.  I don't know what the quality is but they are listed as 100Amp.  I want to go with a black case and they offer that finish.

Why would that be?

Ever taken an alternator apart?
Pretty basic internals. Easy to re build.

As long as they're tested before they get sent out the door, they should work fine.

I would talk to a local rebuilder , we had a good local one & he could tweak a stock alt up to about 80 amp output .
 Powermaster should be able to make a good product but ... loose connections , cheap diodes , I have heard of numerous failures

Dixie Restorations is like $300 bucks to restore a numbers Alt back to stock. 
That's a little rich. But they definitely do good work.
I had conversations with them recently regarding an alternator to be re done.

Has anyone tried a rebuild kit like this, been thinking of giving the 105 amp kit a shot. With any aftermarket accessories a stock output alternator just doesn't cut it.

I don't know if it's the best or not but I've had good luck with mine from DB electrical. It's been 5 years now with no issues? It was an e-bay purchase.

I have 6 round and square-back alternators in the garage and only one of them charges at 14.5 volts at a 750rpm idle. I put them on my engine stand and tested each one.
That is the one I put on my car.

Test your stuff. If you don't get good voltage at a slow idle, send it back.
