70' Cuda door window glass question
« on: May 18, 2014 - 10:40:10 PM »
Hi,new member here.
I'm helping my cousin put together his 70' 4-speed Cuda after it was stripped down for body and paint work. Problem is that the body shop took the windows out,so we have no pics of the "before the teardown". Service manual is also very vague on window install.
Quarter windows went in OK,but as for the door windows we can't figure out where this goes? It appears that it would go along the back edge of the door window, but we can see nowhere to bolt it in.
Thanks for any help!

That looks like a rear channel for the rear quarter windows.  See attached photos.  BTW - I have the new reproduction flocked rubber inserts that go inside those channels.  Never used the inserts because the convertibles don't have those channels, although I was told they did.  If your interested in them, let me know with a PM.  BTW - each quarter window had the channel, so you should have two (left & right).

Aren't those inserts different from cuda to challenger?  I know the window is shaped differently at the top.  If they are the same, let me know if he is not interested because I might.

See the following link.  I bought my channel strips here.  It said they were used in convertibles as-well-as hardtops.  Turns out convertibles do not have the window guide channel that is circled in the photo on the site.  It says E-body '70 and early '71.  I'd sell my channel strips for $20.00 + shipping.  They are brand new, never used or installed as I don't have the channel in my '70 Challenger convertible.
