Strange issue with touch-up paint. Help!
« on: May 22, 2014 - 10:46:11 AM »
Hello,

When I bought my challenger it had a very bad scratch (all the way to the primer) on the top of the right fender. Before sending it for a 300$ job, I tried to fix it myself with my touch-up paint bottle.

The touch-up paint is a perfect match whenever I do a touch up, but when I filled the scratch it turned out much darker.

Any ideas why?

Thanks

Loa

It's either the substrate or the paint or the application. If the base is a different colour than the touch up areas; if the paint wasn't shaken up properly, if the application is thicker or thinner than the touch ups, if it's metallic then you can get a pigment change. Lots of reasons. Sorry, I know this won't make you happy, but it is what it is.  :dunno:

Hello,

Thanks for your input jimynick. I think that it was thicker than the usual touch ups. I think I'll try adding a new thin layer.
