Where does the plastic clip that goes around the cables mount to? I'm guessing that that is how the cable keeps in place.

there is a hole near the upper hinge , the cable loops around the front of the side window & there is a metal plate in the hinge area with the hole

What year is your car? My 73 Challenger had a metal clip attached to the door impact beam. It also used those plastic clips.

It is a 72. The door impact bar has been removed. I will look by the hinge. Thank you.
