oil pressure guage
« on: May 30, 2014 - 06:18:06 PM »
Is it possible to run your OE cluster gauge and run a digital gauge at the same time from the same sending unit? My gauges were professionally rebuilt, but my pressure only shows about a 1/4 up the gauge when warm. I'd like the confidence from a second gauge without disabling my OE gauge. Thanks

Will there be room for two senders?

Right now I have a mechanical oil gauge hooked up to the second port on the back of the block with my oil sending unit (for oil light) hooked up in it's own port. This way I can see what it reads under the hood. The hose is long enough to where the mechanical gauge rests in the battery tray with the battery.
I'm doing this because the engine is new to me and I didn't trust the oil pressure light on the dash. After a while I'll remove the mechanical gauge and reinstall the plug, maybe. It's nice to see what's actually happening every now and then.
Just my  :2cents:

Is the car still for sale?  Let me know. Send pictures if you got any.
Thanks

May depend on the particular car, but I would install the factory sender vertically and install the aftermarket gauge on the side...   If you use a mechanical gauge that needs no sender, it is easier due to the lack of room required

Good to know... my pressure gauge only shows about a 1/4 up also. Engine rebuild 4k miles ago.

I remember the movie "Vanishing Point", the gauges was visible in one scene, rpm about 4000rpm and oil press 1/4 also.

Seems to be "normal"
