How bad do you want it?
« on: April 19, 2005 - 06:24:19 AM »
I was on the computer ordering some new parts. All is going well and I'm shooting for that "best deal".
I go to "checkout" and up pops the shipping details. Now, who don't want their parts ASAP?
I did calm down, but the next day promise of parts had me salivating, while the $55 charge had me thinking otherwise ( it was an order for $30.50 worth of parts ).

So I was wondering, who here has done the "next day" delivery despite the charges equaling more than the part?

I always mentally add the shipping when I am negotating prices.  I just bought some headliner bows for my Challenger and I knew the shipping would be high because of the large/oversize box.  So I didn't want to pay much for them.  Well it turns out I got them for $4.99 plus $16.75 for shipping!!!  :gripe:  and that's thru the US Post Office.  So I won't get them quick either.  Guess I didn't get hosed too bad for the total.   :-\

We try to keep a week ahead of parts. For instance, next week we want to get our exhaust put in, so today I'm ordering our electric exhaust cutouts.  So, a few days will be fine. However, last week our "process" didn't work as some parts took 2 weeks to get here.  Now that's just ridiculous.

I can't recall paying more for shipping than for the part ( unless the part is really cheap ).  I always factor shipping in when pricing parts.  As for eGouge, If an auction doesn't list the shipping, I ALWAYS ask what it will be before bidding, then when it turns out to be double, I throw the email back at them.   :stomp:

:dontknow: I guess this may not count since I only live 60-65 miles from Summit Racing, but last week I ordered on two different days via phone and both orders came the day following the order, Tuesday's order came Wednesday, etc. And no shipping charge to me, the guy told me he'd have to add an $8.00 handling charge, but hell with the price of gas I couldn't drive up there and back home for $8.00! Not to mention all the other stuff I'd probably buy if I had drove up,lol.  :worship: I love Summit, and besides I occasionally get free stuff like caps and t-shirts, hell I even had one gal ask if she could get a ride in my Mopar, said "Mopars were the best!" If you call ask for Andrae, this guy has some amazing Mopar stuff, but he aint selling, lol
