Hi @ all,

as promised, here is the full story. Somehow i got into a german Mopar Forum, where this car has already been known for quite some time. There I got the info about a possible accident, so I was pretty uncertain what would await me. But, flight was booked, so no turning back :) I guess it was a good decision. It's fine to have some info in the back of you mind, but having a look on your own makes the Big Picture.

I have to admit that I went there with totally wrong expectations. For me, a 33.000 € car should be in an almost new condition, as the pictures suggested. But that's wrong, as we're talking about a 44 year old Muscle Car, that is just like rare in Europe than an Opel Rekord would be in the states. The paintjob ist already at least 9 years old and partly, especially under the hood, a bit rough, with drops etc. But from the outside ok. Parts of the interior have not been removed, so you see a slight spray mist around the plastic paneling. The panels are the original green ones, painted over, and the paint is coming off on many places. It just lookes awful - but can be replaced easily. The body however is in a very good condition. No rust on the typical places, strong frame rails, spring perches, replaced trunk floor, nice rear quarters. No bondo as far as I could figure out. NO sign of any accident. It drives straight and fine. The engine and transmission are dry. A/C, as expected, not working. I already knew it was repainted in another color. Some parts of the undercarriage have to be replaced, for example a few broken rubbers and joints, but nothing that makes it a desaster.

To come to an end... I went home slightly disappointed. I moaned my pain in the german forum, but unexpectedly all I got was: "Hey, what do you want, that's a great condition for that price, you won't get any better. That's the reality in the Mopar scene.". I was totally overwhelmed, I had to completely change my value comprehension. Then I asked my valuer, who assists me in the authority questions, he said more or less the same: "Just imagine buying a wreck, putting in lots and lots of hours of work, new paint, new interior, count together how much that would cost you. Here you have a nice daily driver. Some things have to be replaced, but it drives and looks fine."

After some sleepless nights I agreed with the dealer on the price, he gave me a discount and I think it was a good deal for both. And finally, today I fixed the deal by sending back the signed contract :)

Actually, all I ever wanted was a 1970 R/T with 383 and 4-speed with pistol grip and Rally Hood. That was my desire or imagination the last 10 years or so. Finally, I get exactly what I always wanted. Who cares about wrong paint, wrong interior, wrong transmission. It's there to drive and to have lots of fun :)

Sounds like you made the right decision.  Having a car you can drive and enjoy while you fix minor things is the best route.
Many undriveable projects never get finished and just sit hoping for better days.

Drive and enjoy it, congratulations!

:iagree: I could care less about originality. Buy what you want and/or turn it into what you want!  :smokin:
I think the roof skin and frame rails are the only original parts left on my Challenger.

Remember, only the trailer queens are "perfect". This car not only looks good but, your not going to be worried sick if you get a stone chip on it. Enjoy the car for what it is, the one you have been wanting! Welcome to the forum by the way.

That looks like a fun car to me. Enjoy.

Looks really nice!  Only thing I'd do is put some 15" (or bigger) wheels to fill up them wheel wells.

Body side moulding on there doesn't actually look that bad on her.  Just leave it on I say.  Hope you got a garage for her to keep her safe and somewhat warm.  :2thumbs:
