thought I'd share (headliner)
« on: June 07, 2014 - 10:24:35 PM »
I don't know if anyone else knows this, but out of necessity I learned this trick while installing my first bow type headliner. Instead of headliner clips you can go to office max and buy a tub of mini paper clamps. You can use them for keeping the liner tight horizontally. The great thing is they're easily movable as they have tge wires that allow you to release and reposition them until the headliner is perfect. Once it is just right and your satisfied you can squeeze tge little wires and they come off leaving the black mini clip! Hope this helps someone, I know it made my install a breeze...of course if this is common knowledge just ignore me

I'm in the middle of doing this now.  I didn't think the office clips would be strong enough, so I got the big ones at the hardware store.  Now that it's glued tight, I might have to use your idea and see if I can get the smaller ones to secure it under the trim.

Nice!  You wouldn't happen to have a pic of the clips you used?

no, but if you go to office max to their office essentials area by the paper clips and staplers youll see the black mini paper clamps with the silver opening wires. just pull your liner tight, clamp the clip on, then squeeze the wires together to leave the clamp in place once you have everything just like you want....tight. dont do like i did, be sure to replace your seat belts, mirrors, and visors as you go. theyre a pain in the ass to find once the liner is installed and tight...lol

heres the link for them

Thanks.  I am familiar with the clips, but the ones we use at work are WAY too big to fit under the trim.  I'll take a look at the smaller ones and see if they have any that match the stock clips I took off

The mini clips are an exact size match....and it made the install so easy. Everytime I look up at that new headliner I laugh it looks so good. I give all the credit to those clips. It was my first liner and it looks factory new.
