Illumination Cover (Turquoise) Auto Shifter
« on: June 08, 2014 - 01:52:39 PM »
Disassembled my entire shifter and found the turquoise cover for the bulb was melted, guessing someone installed the wrong bulb at one time.
Does anyone sell these? or want to sell one?
Heck, if I can find correct color in bar stock I can make one, is this available?
Thanks for the help

Is it discolored or have a hole?  If not, you may be able to massage it back into shape with a heat gun.  It's not a visible part so it doesn't have to be perfect.  You can replace the bulb with an LED so it won't melt again.
Yes I own a 1972 Dodge Challenger Convertible T/A S/E with a 440 Six Pak. Can it get any more wrong?

The inner surface is discolored (burnt) and the remaining material is extremely thin. I contemplated using a dremmel on the inside surface but it's so thin I'm concerned about breaking through. If there were any available it would be less risky and worth a try, or if affordable just replace it.

As it is right now I'd have to buy an entire shift plate just for the bulb cover. Guessing $40 min for one on eBay

Wow ! Unsure if the sizes are the same but for the money I'll be ordering one this afternoon to see.
Appreciate the help.
