Will New Distributor = Old Tach
« on: June 10, 2014 - 05:07:05 PM »
Is there a current distributor on the market ie MSD or Mallory that will work with my existing factory tach without doing any conversion to the tach?  Looking for a good solid distributor with todays technology that won't break the bank and gives me very few headaches.
It's a factory 1972 340 motor.
Thanks for any suggestions.

72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

Thanks for the info.  I saw the adapter in a couple of my Mopar catalogs and will go in that direction.

Any recommendations on a distributor would be appreciated.  Budget is $200-$300 for this plus the adapter.

Thanks.

MSD is good! But I had to drill a hole in side of distributor cap to keep moisture from building up. Other than  that,
it has been flawless for 14 years. And its easy to install different timing curves.
