You are correct.  The mufflers use the S-hook assemblies on both sides.

They bolt to the frame somewhere?  My rusted out setup was completely "modified", and they removed the resonators  :(

The S-hook assemblies have a plate that sticks down through the trunk floor.  Then the hanger bolts to that plate.  The S-hook slides into the hanger and then bolts to the muffler.  Here are the S-hook assemblies.

Here are photo's of the rear hangers on my 73 Cuda, factory original, both left and right are hung in the same way but the brackets are LH and RH. also photos of the LR under seat hanger, I have unbolted the hanger floor bracket but you will get the drift on what goes on, the right hand side as mentioned earlier had none under the floor but has that bracket bolted to teh shock cross member

The trunk floor plates do nothing but hold the heat shield in place

Learned something new.  I didn't know Cudas had a different hanger setup in the back.  Thanks for the pics.

Dont worry, I was scratching my head for a while, no one seems to sell these Cuda style brackets so I was second guessing, but, if you look hard at the origianal manuals and so on you do pick up the difference, hard though.

There is a current post called name that part by Elmoska in interior and gauges, the very first photo in that post is of the Cuda S brackets FYI, these bolt directly to the resonators/muffers out back by the gas tank

As soon as I saw your picture, I knew what those pieces were in the other thread.  I posted the link to this thread in that one.

Its definitely factory original as the factory applied sealer/deadener is original along with the date coded mufflers and resonators

I have obtained this pair of what I am told are 'Cuda resonator hanger brackets (I know I only need one), but from the ones I have seen online these don't look quite right; mainly the drilled hole for the hanger.  Maybe they are not even for a E body.  :clueless:  I have seen some that are "slotted", others that have a square hole, and others too that have a sort of angled "tab" protruding from them.  What is correct for a '72?
