True, the cable going to the ampmeter on theese cars are an accident waiting to happen, especially when the car is over 40 years old...
Had problems there on 2 of my earlier e-bodys. A voltmeter is a much better option, (if you're not doing a OE restoration though).
I'm gonna run a thicker powercable to the front of the car and install relays for the lights and horns, to minimize the amps going thru the bulkhead connector as much as possible.

yes... a amp meter looks cool, but beside this nothing positive about these things.

Relay for the headlights are a very good thing. On the painless performance fuse box is a new horn relay... I think this is ok if you don't horn all the time  :grinno:

Seems you are on a good way, don't wait with the new fuse box. I think its a very great upgrade.

One MUST remember that the power comes from the altermator.......the battery is just an accumulator.
Hence the need for a direct connection between alternator and battery.....then use relays from battery to headlamps etc.....

T O M.    T H A N K S   F O R   S H A R I N G.  What is the partnumber for this Voltmeter ?
This upgrade is as obvious as heatwraps on the headers....

Anytime

Direct connection between battery and generator is not needed. You can go from generator to starter with a good cable, and from there with a identical diameter to battery.
This harnessing style is usual on every car almost.

Its Sunpro CP7985

So next thing... I didn't like all the chrome on the front, and the Grille was in a bad condition. So I decided to go my own way, I am curious how you think about but I am sure some don't like because its not like Original.

- First the Headlight Bezels and the Grille got a black Powder Coat

- Grille... I disassembled the original Grille and adapt a universal Honey Comb Grille in the original Unit. Lot of work but now it fits perfectly.

- New Challenger and R/T Emblem

- Front Spoiler by Randys Spoilers

- 3000k Bolts Racing H4 Bulbs for the High Beam

And now the pictures...

That looks AWESOME!  I respect those who make the car look like it rolled off the assembly line, but love when someone does their own thing! :cooldancing:

Very nice work Tom!
That voltmeter conversion is the best one I've seen yet. I think I'm going to copy your work on my dash this winter.  :2thumbs:

Hi

Thank you very very very very much for your comments. I am so happy you like this, it makes a lot more fun if somebody like my modifications. Yesterday I made a photo shooting on a car show, cant wait to get the pictures  :)

crash340; The spoiler is from "Spoilers by Randy" (spoilersbyrandy.com). I like this spoiler very much, its exactly that spoiler I was looking for. It couldn't be better! About the wheels fitment; I took small tires for this wheels (245 front and 275 at the back, its small for this wheel width). So it pulls the most of the running surface under the body. At the front I had to cut the fender trim a little. At the back I also cut the fender trim, but the wheels touched the sidewall. So I had to cut a little from the sidewall. Now nothing scratches or touches anymore. See pictures below.

Johannes; The car was assembled in Switzerland 1970 and I think it never leaved this country. Only the canton (Switzerland haves 26 cantons. Cantons are like states or parts of that contry) changed. I bought that car in canton of Schwyz (that's why SZ) and I live in canton of Bern (that's why BE). Is it like you thought  :)??
