Hello Folks....

as I wrote in the newbee Corner..I ve bought a 73 Challenger...with a TF 727 Transmisson.... the transmisson doestn �t shift into the 3 rd gear...
Reseve ,First and second gear works.... when I drive with 55 mph and go into the kickdown the Transmission downshifts...into the first...so the car slows down ( of course )

Where should I start to look at... ? Kickdownlinkage ?
The oil is red..and there is no "burt smell " also..

I would check the shifter linkage first and make sure that when it is in drive it really is in drive. Then the kickdown linkage

I will check all the settings on saturday... what do you think of changing the oil /filter too ? and when I am there...I can check the kickdown and rear band adjustment too..

I recently tried to install a shift kit in my 727 and found that someone had been in there before me. I went ahead with my shift kit, but when I buttoned up the valve body it would not shift into 3rd gear. I found out I was missing a bearing but did not know what else was wrong, so I ended up buying a whole new valve body instead of risking it. No problems any more!
