Resonators: Keep em or remove them?

What's your thoughts on the Resonators.

Benefits:
You can actually hear each other inside.
No Droning sound coming up

Disadvantages:
Possible back pressure?
Horsepower decrease?

Has anyone taken them off and noticed any differences?

I got rid of my mufflers last week. One of them had a baffle that had came loose and made a fluttering sound. I also replaced the resonators which sounded like **** by themselves either because they were wore out or just not any good with DynoMax Super Turbos. Can drive around town without being loud, but when I tromp it, you know it.

for years my car was done reverse , the mufflers were removed under the floor & the resonators were left beside the fuel tank , sounded great

The Resonators are first then the mufflers.

My Dynomax super turbos are where the resonators are supposed to be located and have straight pipe where mufflers would be.  Im very happy with that setup.

Yup...easy to get backwards.

So did you mean remove the resonators?

I see on Accurate's website they have a factory look 2.5" mufflers that are flow straight thru, no baffle system.

I've got Accurates complete system with resonators on my 318. It sounds healthy. Your hemi will sound even better. My car is quiet on the interior but fairly loud outside.

Either would work but often there is more clearance by the fuel tank so running muffler there makes sense but most TTI systems run the mufflers uner the rear seat with straight pipe by the tank

That is the exact system I have.

I just installed the TTI system CP mentioned. Hope this helps.

IMHO ... Unless your going to the drag strip, you will not feel enough of a difference on a street car to matter. Back pressure gets confused with velocity a lot.  Back pressure as a rule is bad. Its getting the proper velocity for scavenging  that's important ... 3" straight pipes will not work on some applications where 2 1/4" will because of velocity.

Doesn't really answer your question, but I never put resonators back on because of the extra weight. Figured the car was heavy enough without them. Just mufflers, love the sound, but I don't remember what it sounded like with the resonators!
