I need help at Carlisle:
« on: June 22, 2014 - 01:57:03 PM »
Hey everyone...I just live about 20 miles from Carlisle and this will be my first time at the Chrysler event. Here is my situation: Just purchased a 71 Cuda several months ago and need a hand setting the idle. It is a 440 6 Pack car and runs great, however; it idles too high and needs tweaked. Being new to this motor/carb setup I would rather have someone who knows what they are doing rather than me fooling with it and making matters worse. So, if anyone of you attending Carlisle would be willing to help me with this it would be greatly appreciated. I do not expect you to do this for nothing...Your knowledge and time is worth money to me. If anyone lives in the York/Lancaster/Harrisburg area and would be willing to help with this please contact me if you wish. We can exchange phone numbers to set something up. With all that said, I can not wait to see all you folks and beautiful cars........

Hmm... anyone selling tickets to the Six Pack tuning seminar?  I for one would love to see it done properly.  Chryco, I know you're probably traveling light, so if there are any tools you might need I can probably bring them along if you like.
Yes I own a 1972 Dodge Challenger Convertible T/A S/E with a 440 Six Pak. Can it get any more wrong?

I usually do this anyway , April showed up one year at Carlisle basically so I could tune her new 6 pack LOL
Nothing difficult needed for tools really  , 1/2" flare nut wrench is often useful for the fuel lines , 1" wrench or adjustable that will go to 1" if we have to swap power valves , vacuum gauge , 1/2" wrench / socket to get the carbs off , small screwdriver for idle mix screws , maybe a battery drill & small bits & a pin punch less than 1/8 " if the covers are over the outboard idle screws still , 5/16 or 8 mm wrench or socket to remove fuel bowls , originals are just a std screwdriver , 5/8" wrench to adjust float levels , allen wrench for the dist vacuum advance , Small strands of wire to insert into the air bleeds if the vacuum is very low .
Selection of gaskets , 1" , 2.5" ,3.5" power valves , jet kit & some squirters between 27-40 , pump cams , secondary spring kit are helpful as well .
