Dash warning lights question?

Hi all, not sure if that is what they are called, but --- on a 73 barracuda, it has three lights under your gauges on the standard cluster, one for the high beam indicator, one for the parking brake light, and one for the oil light. My high beam indicator works fine, but my parking brake light, and the oil light won't come on. The bulbs have been checked and are good, and I'm "assuming" that they should both come on (if your parking brake is on) when you first turn your key on, right?
I just finished putting all the interior back back in, after having the dash frame blasted & painted, made sure I had good clean ends for ground where the frame bolts to the kick panel area; the metal part of the cluster has a good ground, especially since the high beam indicator works; but I don't think the other two lights use ground off of the cluster though, as  both have two wires, and are plastic bulb holders unlike the high beam one. I went over the dash harness before putting it back in, and all seemed in pretty good shape - all under hood harness's have been replaced.
I've looked at the wiring diagrams, but am somewhat lost (I'm not the best at reading them!). I unhooked the seat belt harness underneath the drivers side rocker, but the seat belt relay is still hooked up in case that might cause anything; and I don't have the seat belt light hooked up, as it was bad. Anyone have any ideas, or possibly what to check?

Both lamps rely on grounds from switches, you can test the lamps by grounding the connectors to the body with the ignition in Run position.
Parking brake switch is on the pedal assembly just behind the release, the oil warning switch is a sending unit screwed into the block beside the distributor on a small block.
Both switches are normally closed and should show continuity through the switch terminal to ground. There are two types of oil sending units so be sure you have the correct one.

Both the park brake & the oil light ground away from the dash , there should be power to the bulb & a second wires goes to ground either at the pedal for the park brake or at the oil sending switch on the engine , so start checking for power to the bulb & see if the other wire at the bulb is grounding you should locate the problem quickly

Thanks guys! You would think after all this time, that one would think to check fuses 1st, but hey, I guess I like doing things the hard way - after checking for power and realizing I didn't have any on either one, it ended up being the top left fuse was blown. Well, at least I have a better idea of how it all works now!

That's great you figured it out... the hard way. We all take that path on different problems with our little babes. And the hard way can be a lesson well learned. Benn there done that many time.
One question to keep in mind. What blew that fuse? Just something to think about...
