Vapor Lock???

Running a 400BB with Eddie intake and 850 carb.  When the car is all warmed up and I get stuck at a light in traffic, it seems like my gas is getting hot and when I hit the gas to go, it will stall.  It will fire back up if I put the pedal to the floor.  The temp gauge does not climb it stays constant.  I have the fuel line wrapped with insulator where it runs past the header.   Does anyone have any thoughts????   Mech Holley fuel pump.

If you have hood clearance, I would consider putting in a carb spacer to get a little more room between the intake manifold and carb.  Do you have a return fuel line?

Yes, have a spacer on currently, it is the composite style.  Still no improvement... :faint:

Is the heat cross over blocked through the intake , a Fel Pro 1214 intake gasket will block it .
 I assume the float level is correct , accelerator pump shot is nor too much & the linkage is tight with no slack in it

ya, seems more like a carb adjustment problem, than a hot gas problem.

Ck the fuel pump push rod. I was having the same problem I thought was vapor lock but it was the rod worn down about 1/2" and was not pumping enough fuel. There is a step on both sides of the rod that should be the same size.

Some good tips there and there's an aluminum plate about 1/16" thick and about 10" by 12" that you can buy and mount between the carb and manifold to help disburse the heat, as well. Good luck :cheers:

Eddy's run by vacuum at idle check if you have enough. If your vacuum is low it will stall. I had to turn my timing up to get enough to run when it gets hot

Ok- Issue seems to have been found.  After warm up, wathced the fuel presure drop.  So we took a hose with a small stream of water while, running we cooled the fuel pump and the pressure climbed right back up to 7-8psi.  So it appears to be some heat sink in the pump.  Changing it out and should solve this issue.
