Lowering a cuda
« on: July 01, 2014 - 12:49:38 AM »
Hey guys new to the site, glad to be here:). Im building a 1970 cuda and i want the car to sit really low. I ve seen a few members mention thestreet lynx rear end setup which looks pretty straight forward and a nice bolt in. Gonna mini tub the car. Not too sure what to do for the front end. I wanna replace the whole front suspension with either an Alterkation setup or a magnumforce setup. Not sure which one is a better setup or quality wise for getting the car low. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Here's another set up also http://xv-racing-products-llc.myshopify.com contact Chris and tell him james sent you over he's really turned these guys around I've got my rear installed finally and it looks awesome jvike a member on here also has this full suspension and loves it which he also road races his car with 335 18s on the rear with no mini tub. Pic below.of his monster. The only thing I can say is stay away from the mag force to much going on there. Xv and the alterkation are the best on the market I've seen proven xv stuff but have yet to see the alterkation in action. In a road race set up which I'm building my cuda for. Really why I chose the xv set over it

The Hotchkis line of components can get a Cuda to sit very low utilizing stock style components and do it all for half the cost of an entire coil over conversion. same with arts offered by Firm Feel.

Unless you need to infinite adjustability and the quick spring changes offered by a coil over system, must of us can get more performance than we need out of the Hotchkis or Firm Feel parts.

Nothing wrong with the front suspension , replace a few bushings , reset the alignment with a lot more caster  , drop the nose with spindles add a larger sway bar & good shocks & it will work great .

Dropped mine 2" all around by buying nothing. Had the rear springs dearched and adjusted torsion bars.

Later installed bigger torsion bars.

If you want to do a chassis Schwartz Performance has a full tube frame chassis available also wwwschwartzperformance.com
or you can have a chrome moly tube chassis constructed also allowing virtually any custom modifications you could dream of , lowered chassis , move the engine rearward for better weight distribution , any size tires or stance .
