My wife also got me a new firewall for my bday. I have a buddy who owns a body shop and he is going to put it in. I am kinda nervous about cutting it out and trying to put it in myself since it is a critical part of the unibody. I am going to wait till I put in my new frame rails before hauling it to the body shop so it doesn't flex

Finishing up the other side so they will match. It has taking me three weeks to get this point. It has been alot of measuring and cutting and measuring and cutting. It will take alittle more tweaking but its getting really close. http://

So after getting to a stopping point on the sub frame connectors. I was planning on having a friend of mine put in my firewall. Well after almost a year of trying to work out a good time I got tired of waiting. Guess its good for him to be busy but it sucks for me. So I decided to take this on my self. I spent a month just looking at the firewall. I finally started bracing things up making sure she was nice and square and sturdy. So after another month I took a spot weld drill and went to work. It took me approximately three days to get it out trying not to bend or distort the car.

So I eventually got the firewall out and the new one in. It went surprisingly well considering I was terrified. The new piece fit well it did have to be massaged in some places but surprisingly well. I took another three days to fit it and weld it in. It always pays to take your time on these things. After I got the firewall in i noticed the pieces that connect the firewall to the engine bay where now distorted and not fitting tight to the firewall like I want them to. So this is where I am now, I plan on hand making these and making them a little more sturdy since when I took them out I noticed they are only held on to the frame rails with three spot welds.

Good job lad! You'll be much happier with your car with that new firewall in there. Glad to hear it went in well and it sounds like you've got a grip on the cut/weld cycle for these things. Hope the rest of it comes together as well.

You're doing great work. That car looked pretty good  when together, that's not fun when they look worse and worse everytime you pull a piece off.
